The Background
Iqra University is one of the top educational institutions in Pakistan. With numerous campuses, a broad variety of academic programs with thousands of students, Iqra University required an online presence that would keep up with the latest trends in design but also with actual requirements of their users.
The previous website was old-fashioned. It was sluggish, messy and didn’t reflect the current atmosphere of the university. It was difficult to locate information and the user experience on mobile devices was unsatisfactory. They approached Media Feathers to fix that–and this is exactly what we did.
What Needed to Change
We began by identifying the major problems:
- The site wasn’t working properly on mobile devices.
- Parents and students struggled to locate basic information such as admissions departments, fees, and admission information.
- Updates were a challenge for the team within the university to handle.
- The style no longer matches the image of the university or its energy.
Iqra University needed something better–faster, cleaner, and simpler to manage.
Our Approach
We started with the structure. We collaborated closely with the university’s staff to determine what the users were looking for the most. From admissions and calendars for academics to news about research and campus events — we made sure that everything was in an appropriate place.
The website was created from scratch using a contemporary CMS that allowed for updates to be quick and simple to their employees. We also integrated features such as:
- A clear navigation bar that includes categorizes sections for students faculty and parents
- A responsive design that works with phones tablets, desktops, and phones
- Admission forms that are easy to access along with course information and department information
- Clean announcements and events section.
- SEO-friendly URLs and contents to improve visibility on search engines.
The overall look is contemporary yet professional. The color scheme was in line with the university image while introducing a new design. The fonts are crisp, the images are optimized and everything loads speedily, even when you have slow internet connections.
Making It Work for Everyone
Iqra’s target audience isn’t limited to students. It’s also composed of alumni, faculty researchers, as well as parents. Therefore, the website had to be welcoming to everyone.
We ensured that important websites are always two clicks away. We also included a dynamic search function to let users quickly find departments, programs or contact information without having to scroll over endless menus.
Administrators, for example. We have set up an easy-to-use backend. Making announcements, uploading files and editing pages is a matter of minutes and not hours. We also gave basic training so that their staff could be in complete control, without the need for technical support each time.
The Outcome
- The website’s new design saw an impressive decrease in bounce rates in the initial month
- Mobile traffic increased, and with an improved user experience across all different devices
- The admissions inquiry was raised through the application and contact application forms.
- Staff members have reported easier management of content and faster page editing
- Students were able to access updates on their academics and other events
What This Meant for Iqra University
Iqra University now has a digital presence that shows its professionalism and scale. It’s a website that does not just look good, but also functions well for those who visit it.
The goal of the project was not to add extravagant features. This was about fixing the issues by focusing on what was important and assisting the university to connect with its communities more efficiently.
